Ode to solace

play back regrets in loops repeatedly curated,
to start with solos muted down to waning notes
of disappointment at the edge of solace,
left to play out in brief attempts to stop the hum
of pain evade its fate of ending
in overmysticised denials of itself

trace back regrets to truths serenely chanted
by muses turned chimerae in their canto of goodwill,
with words defying purposes chaotic,
devised to overcome those questions turned remarks,
in their inquiry of silence surrendering a mind in thought.

(inspired by the sounds of ‘Wind Song’ by Fabrizio Paterlini)
