you learnt to hope, as you did seeing
while looking down at paved old roads
where two ends meet a path complete
in thought
and stifled pain bursts forth through laughter
when nothing turns to credence but despair
or no one’s near to hear
the chatter
of your persisting feet treading along
this line intractable to folding
a thread pulling you into nowhere
cut short
you learnt to hope, as you did waiting
for clouds to scatter ’round the edge
of skies besieged to hold onto tomorrow
in closure
unknown
(inspired by the sounds of ‘Because This Must Be’ by Nils Frahm)
